“I have always wanted to travel to India and volunteer so when I finally decided to do it I spent a lot of time researching organisation after organisation to find the right fit. I was looking for a good variety of program / volunteer work choices, good and safe location and good value for money. Volunteering India ticked all these boxes and seemed too good to be true. I sent many emails to Volunteering India prior to booking and arriving and they always replied back within hours and answered all my questions. I decided to participate in the Work and Travel program option. On weekdays I work on the Street Kids program, teaching english and maths to children who live on the street and are the poorest of the poor here in Jaipur. They are the most adorable kids you'll ever meet. They are so clever and so eager to learn. The organisation provide all transport to and from work. On weekends I travel with a group of people from the volunteer house. I visited Agra and the Taj Mahal, Pushkar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ranthambore, went on a Tiger Safari and best of all went on a Camel Safari in the Desert where we slept under the stars on the sand dunes. Incredible. We are transported by lovely drivers in private air conditioned cars and mini buses and stay in beautiful hotels. I am here at a busy time with the house having twenty volunteers at the moment. The house is beautiful and very big, it's always clean and cool with western style toilets, hot water and internet at cheap prices and is situated in a nice and safe neighbourhood close to supermarkets and a short rickshaw ride to the city center. I was here for Holi festival and the Jaipur elephant festival which were so much fun. Punni, the cook and house mum as we refer to her, cooks the volunteers delicious lunches and dinners everyday which isn't spicy at all which is good for those like me who can't handle it (but their is always chilli available for those who do). The team and staff are lovely and always willing to answer your questions and help with your problems. On the rare occasion that we have a problem they fix it straight away. They make sure that we are happy and safe without being over bearing and controlling which is nice. We have curfew at 10pm but this is purely for your safety and I think reasonable. They have good hearts and genuinely care about their volunteers, children and the success of the programs”

Overall I had a great experience with Volunteering India I enjoyed every part of the women’s empowerment program. I joined Volunteering India because I wanted to be able to spend extended amount of time with a group and I was happy to be able to take part in the program. The women were welcoming and fantastic to work with. The girls were sweet and eager to learn. I felt like I was going to home when I went to volunteer. The volunteer house was comfortable and clean. The food was also great. The team of Volunteering India was great. I would definitely recommend it.

I joined the street Kids program and it has been truly blessing for me coming here and experiencing the vibrant joy of the kids. My work with the kids has taught me quite a lot about myself and it has opened my mind to different cultures and worlds views. It is hard to describe this experience I think the best word that sums it up is “overwhelming”. I would recommend the program to many because it has been worth every penny spent. The work with the kids has brought me more joy then I could imagine and I would love to come back someday. Overall all I can say I’m more than thankful to have been given this opportunity to experience a new culture, country, people and teach the kids everyday. I still have a long way ahead of me but my experience here are MERORABLE for life. Accommodation is good. Food is amazing too.

I have never taught children before this is definitely something I enjoyed and will do it again in the future. The accommodation is good. It’s comfortable, secure and very clean. The food is amazing! The street children program appears well organized and smoothly run. It was completely adverse to what I expected but I have a wild and eccentric imagination. I had thought it would literally be unorganized with kids of and of the street, the school, uniform and equipment, books etc was refreshing and I do get an impression that this will make an large difference to these kids lives. I feel in my month alone kids seemed to make much progress. I feel I have gained much experience and would not be adverse to work with children in the futures. My personal experience of the program has been more then positive, I always been smiling and everyday I have relished teaching. I build up very strong bonds with the children and feels heart wrenching to came away from them. The bonds made with the colleagues are also strong and I can keep in touch with them. The food and accommodation were great. I will definitely recommend Volunteering India to others, especially for those who want a gentle dip into Indian Culture.

When I arrived I didn’t really know what to expect, but when I got to know what my tasks will be, I was really happy to have joined this programme. It is so much necessary for these kids to have the possibility of education! I very much appreciate it! That’s why I chose this project. I am not a teacher or any professional, but I love to help the kids whenever I can, so I tried my best to teach them some vocabularies or maths. It’s a great feeling when they respond to your question after being taught. The accommodation and the food were great. My experience was awesome. I would recommend Volunteering India to others because accommodation is good, food is great, project is definitely worth the experience, and staff is nice.

The volunteer program offered a variety of experiences. The chances to interact with the children were the highlight of the program and I was very happy at how the volunteering was also flexible. I experienced a close relationship with the children which also allowed me to help improve their learning experience. It was very rewarding watch the children’s education grow. Living in Jaipur and got the opportunity to visit many of the different attractions while also having the luxury of being able to return to a beautiful meal and a warm bed. Both the accommodation and food were far better than what I expected. The meals cooked by cook were something to look forward to and she was always very kind about providing food. The accommodation was fine and the home provided everything from Internet to a phone. The staff of the program was very considerate and helped whenever possible. They gave advice, helped me become used to the volunteer home and Jaipur. Overall, they made the trip personal and welcoming. I would gladly recommend the Volunteering India program to others.

Good communication from the administration at start of the programme, responses from emails, programme packs and Volunteering India information resources. I liked the fact that we had free times and volunteer were able to explore Jaipur. I enjoyed experiencing the culture and having the other volunteers around. At the school I was little apprehensive about teaching, as I haven’t really done this before. I found the children easy to work with though like any teaching you have to think on your feet and change the activities, subjects according to suit individuals needs. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Food was excellent. The staff at the school was approachable and friendly, helpful and encouraging me to teach them more.

Overall, this experience was awesome and one that I will never forget. To teach the children and watch them learn was a great and unique feeling. I wish I had signed for longer time to keep watch the kids progress. As the week is coming to an end I can truly say I am going to miss it. The children would run to the school when they saw us pull up….running to learn. That will stay with me forever. This was an incredible and eye-opening. All are so eager and willing to learn. The house is great, very spacious and the cook’s food was cooked to perfection. I would recommend this organization to others.

I loved my time at Volunteering India! I chose the work and travel option, so week days were spent teaching English to street kids, and weekends were spent touring around Rajasthan. The weekend trips were very well organised and it was so nice to have the opportunity to see other parts of Rajasthan with the new friends gained through volunteering. The kids were gorgeous! Meals provided at the house were always delicious and filling. I'll always remember my time spent with Volunteering India and I highly recommend this program. Thanks for the opportunity!

I volunteered with Volunteering India twice now, and I'm very positive about this organization. They are happy to answer all the questions you have about your stay and the programs. There's a special house for the volunteers, wich is very nice and comfortable. The orginasators of Volunteering India have an office in the house, so you see them everyday. The staff members are very nice and helpfull. There's a cook, and lunch and dinner is provided, the food is Indian, but it's not spicy. There's also a driver who drives everyone to there project locations. In the weekends you can travel around, and there's a lot to see around jaipur, so you won't get bored. I had a great time staying here for 10 weeks. I met a lot of great people, had an amazing time with the children. I would recomend this program to everyone! I had a great experience, wich I will never forget!

I was pleasantly surprised how well those children are cared for in regards of there basic needs e.g. Food, clothing and cleanliness. I also believe that the volunteers in the orphanage doing a fantastic job and that we do make a positive impact in those children’s life. The staff at the volunteer house was great. I think Volunteering India is a great organization, and my stay here has been much more pleasant than I could ever hope for. The children are lovely, and with the nursery I think you will make a big improvement that will make the work a lot more comfortable for the volunteers and the work much more valuable for the kids. The weekend trips have been lot of fun, and a nice break from work. My wishes are that Volunteering India continues to do its good work and continue to improve and grow. I have had a great time, and after this I will definitely do some more volunteering. I have experienced many cultural differences, mainly in how a child is raised, but also I have learned about how other people live their lives and how the other society runs. That was what I came for. I do not regret coming here. The children are very sweet, and I started caring for all of them, and I am sad to leave. It is clear that they have a lack of care and attention in their lives, so it is great that Volunteering India welcome volunteers to give them a little bit of what they need. The food and the accommodation have been great. I feel safe in this area. I would recommend Volunteering India. Volunteering India has given me a good experience and the staff has been very helpful.

Volunteering India is doing a great job creating a better environment or the kids at the orphanage. The Work and Travel program was a great way to work and see different parts of India and learn about the history and culture. It was a little overwhelming at first because it was very different from home. What when I got used to it, and got used to it and got to know the kids it was easier. I felt that me being there meant a lot to the kids, and it meant a lot to me too. I really enjoyed working enjoyed working with the children. They have a lot of energy so it was tiring, but fun. The accommodation has been good. I have felt safe during my stay here. The food here is very good. I recommend Volunteering India. I have had a very good experience.

I took part in work and travel program and supported the youngest group of children in the Street children school. I had really positive, informative and insightful experience. It was interesting to gain an understanding of the similarities and difference between the education systems both here and back home in the U.K. There are obvious culture and system differences in what is considered as priority and appropriate in terms of access to play, curriculum, emotional well being. The accommodation has been comfortable even though basic. It was great having a communal place to eat, relax and watch TV. The week end trips were great and a good contrast to the work aspect of the project. Journeys though sometimes long were made manageable with regular comfort breaks. The Drives were most helpful and courteous. Modes of transportation were comfortable. Hotels were wonderful. All in all excellent tours! I will definitely recommend to friend and family.

I was happy to have the opportunity to work on the women Empowerment program. It was nice to be allowed to create bonding experiences. For me, I saw this as a support group for younger women (girls aged 10- 15) and women in intensely busy period of their lives – with young children – some with demanding Parents. Or in- laws and with jobs!!! I was very happy to draw out the women and let them improve their English in fun ways. One day for example I bought a magazine called “People”. They were excited to see pictures and stories of their favorite stars, and it generated much conversation. The girls had intense energy. I promoted learning through games and a lot of talking. Their writing skills were all strong. I felt it was important to get them to speak as much as possible. I would like to say Thank you to Volunteering India for this opportunity. The food and the accommodation were fine. Amita is very caring. The organization clearly want these projects to be successful and do their best to accomplish that. House staff and the driver were very nice. I would definitely recommend Volunteering India to others.

While my time on the program was very short (just 2 weeks). I really enjoyed this opportunity to work with women and girls on women empowerment initiatives. I enjoyed the experience to learn more about the lives, challenges and realities of women in this region, and to help them develop skills and confidence to set goals and achieve them. It was a wonderful experience to live like locals do, and learn about Indian culture. I found Jaipur an interesting location. Rich history and beautiful sites, Speople friendly. Accommodation and food was very good. Comfortable rooms, beds and house. The food was very good – authentic style delicious food. I worked with one other volunteer for 2 days and it was great to partner with her. It was helpful for each of us to be able to each focus with a group and work on different skills (language and Computer). I would recommend Volunteering India to others. I had a great experience joining the program. The communication was really good and I liked that I received information at home before I come to India. The government school was very nice and I found it comforting that I was joined by other teachers when I first started. I feel like my help was appreciated especially by the kids. I feel like I did a lot for them. They were adorable and I hope they will remember us. I felt at home at the school. Even though we had a language barrier between us and the Indian teachers. They really made us (me) feel really good at school. Accommodation and food was amazing! The team was great. I felt really at home and I felt comfortable asking questions and everyone was really nice. I think the weekend trips are great selection of things to do in Rajasthan. I enjoyed all of them. Favorite was definitely the camel Safari. I love all the hotels. Really good value for money. The transportation was very good. I will definitely recommend Volunteering India to others. This was my first big travel experience on my own. My parents were a little worried at first but as soon as I arrived at the house and emailed them that the pickup at the airport, the hotel and the drive to jaipur all went very smoothly and there was upwards of twenty volunteers in the house they realized I was going to be very safe and have a great time! That is exactly what happened. The house is beautiful, in a gated community where you always feel safe. Lunch and Dinner are great and the cook is lovely. I worked at the Government Run School, teaching English, which was a great experience. At times it was a little hard to handle, with so many kids but I am really glad I did this program. I think all the programs Volunteering India seem wonderful to experience working at. I was on the work and travel trip and it was amazing! it is wonderfully put together and worth doing. The Taj Majal was great, as well as Pushkar and especially riding a camel and sleeping in the dessert. I researched a lot of programs before choosing Volunteering India and I am very happy with my choice. I was skeptical at first cause it was a lot cheaper than some of the other programs i saw. The trip is worth every penny because you do and see so much. I strongly advise you to choose this program because you will not forget it :)

I really enjoyed my five weeks here. It was even better than expected. The women empowerment programme was great and the volunteer house in a really good location. Jaipur particularly was a great base to explore Rajasthan and its surrounding cities and attraction. Also I think Volunteering India is good value compare to other volunteer programmes and definitely has more of charity, rather than a business fed to it. The Volunteering India team seems to genuinely care about the work programs and the people and children they are benefiting. I really loved the house and felt very cozy in my little bed! This was my second time volunteering in Jaipur, India. Yet again it was an amazing experience! I was volunteering in the orphanage, everyday was fantastic, the children are utterly amazing in their own right and the relationship that you can build with both the children and the staff who work there is something really special. I was only in Jaipur for 3 weeks and saying goodbye to the children was one of the hardest things! I didn't think it was even possible to become so emotionally attached to children after spending only 15 days with them until I was in tears when I had to leave!! A typical day in the orphanage: arrive at 8:30 help wash, dry and dress the children. Then help give them some food and or milk. Then play with the children (when I was there we took in speakers and an iPod and played alot of nursery rhymes and danced and sang with the children which they really loved). Then we would get some of the toys out for them to play with. They then have lunch at around 11:40 which we assisted with and then they have a sleep and we went home at 12. I thought that this was a litter early to finish as we then had the whole afternoon free each day, it might be a nice idea to give the volunteers the choice to go back in the afternoon once the children had woken up. However as a whole I solely recommend the orphanage project to anyone of any age and believe that Volunteering India Organization is a fantastic organization and that they have their hearts in the right place. I will definitely be going back again and can’t wait until I do!

Volunteering in India (Jaipur) overall was both challenging and rewarding. Having never traveled to India before, let alone volunteer outside of my home country, the USA, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. At the orphanage, it was wonderful to just “be” with the children and get to know each of their individual personalities. I did feel that the kids felt comfortable around me as we got to know each other. Overall the amenities at the volunteer house were better than expected. Very clean house and specious area. The food could have been spicier for my taste, but I understand that everyone has preferences. Love the staff at Volunteering India. The cook and driver were very good. I have enjoyed participating in the orphanage program. I love working with children and I really had a good time talking care of them, playing with them…I think these children have a great time when volunteer visit them, that’s why I think this program is really necessary for them, because this way they disconnect and “break the routine”. The children have been great and it’s been easy to work with them although their situation in the orphanage is really bad. I’ve been playing with them; feeding singing…Accommodation and the food at volunteer home was good. The staff at the volunteer home was good. Actually when I arrived I was having a real culture shock. The first day’s I was having real hard time also because there was somebody else who was also experiencing this and we talked maybe to much about this feeling. After a few days I just decided that I was first going to open myself for India and enjoy myself. And that’s what I’ve done the last 4 weeks. I think this was only possible because of the fact that I had a safe environment here in Volunteering India. So for me the program was an ideal way to get to know India. Not in the way like most tourist do but in the way that you can take your time to experience the daily life. The food and accommodation was good. The team makes you feel safe and always ready to help you out with everything. I am definitely going to recommend it to others.

The accommodation and food was really good. The best have experienced as a volunteer. All the team and staff have been friendly and really helpful. I will for sure recommend Volunteering India to others.

The organization of the program was structured very well. We know what we could expect from our volunteer program thanks to the information that was told us. I liked the work in the orphanage. We had a good preparation and the kids were fun to work with. I felt like I was doing the right thing for those kids. The kids were really cute. It was so nice that they appreciated our attention. The hotel we stayed at, were good. We felt like we were taking care off during our program. The volunteer house was very comfortable. I liked the food. It was nice to have a tryout of the Indian food. The people at the organization were always around when you needed them. I will definitely recommend Volunteering India. It was a once- in- a- lifetime experience.

I found the activities that we have done really nice. I’ve learned a lot during the 3week here in India. I think that the most important thing is that I never give up. The first day of the volunteer work was very hard for me. Everything was different that I was used to at home. The children were so cute. Sometimes it was difficult for me to give attention to all the kids, but smile on their faces make me in a good mood. The accommodation was really good. I really enjoyed the time in this home. Volunteering India is a good organization. This is for me an experience that I never forget. I do recommend Volunteering India to others.

I think the summer program is a good way to encompass both the volunteering and traveling into your trip. I have very much enjoyed the volunteering at the orphanage even though it was an emotionally challenging experience. I have found this to be an eye-opening experience. I really enjoyed spending time with the children and found them in general to be very cute and fun. I thought the accommodation was good and can think of no complaints. I thought the food was generally good. The Volunteering India team was very helpful. I will definitely recommend Volunteering India to others.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the volunteering experience and would certainly do it again. The summer program is a well organized trip with an interesting, mixed agenda – one that I would have struggled to organize myself. I also felt it to be good value for money. Furthermore, I really enjoyed the social aspect of the volunteer house; having so many like-minded people from such a wide array of backgrounds has broadened my horizon in a similar way to the school work! I have learnt so much about Indian culture, history and lifestyle and feel enriched to have had such an experience and would love to have more in the future. I will greatly miss so many of the people I have met here, staff, school, children and volunteers and I hope to stay in touch. I was very satisfied with the accommodation and the food. I will definitely recommend Volunteering India to others. I had a fulfilling time with great value for money.

The program corresponded to what I expected. I was happy to work with Indian children and have the opportunity to meet locals. I enjoyed my time with the girls and I think it was nice to teach them English outside school. I liked working with the children in non school environment and loved coming to their place everyday. I also appreciated those hose short conversations with the locals – landlord and landlady at the work place, workers at the house…I think the instructions were quite clear and we had no surprise as everything was explained in advance. I think the supervisor were really nice and helpful. The accommodation and the food were good. The organization staff was also very good. I will definitely recommend Volunteering India, it is a serious organization.

It was an incredible experience. I really understood what poverty means and how every one of us can help with just few efforts. It was useful for my personal growth. Teaching English to children made me feeling better with myself. Overall summer program is well organized and interesting. It was really good. All the volunteers were funny and interesting. It was good to share experience with people from all over the world. The accommodation was fine and as well the food. I do recommend Volunteering India to my friends and family.

It was one of the best experience of my life!!!!! I strongly recommend Volunteering India to everybody! I took part in the Summer Program. I worked for two weeks in the Street Children Education Program. After that, we travelled for one week and we visited amazing places such as Agra, Amritsar, Dharamsala and we went trekking on the Himalaya. For the first 2 weeks I taught Math and English to 3 to 5 years old street kidz. All the programs are well structured and organized! The program coordinator (Asha) helped me to talk to the pupils, who knew only few words in English. Dealing with very young students is not easy but is extremely rewarding and is a very intense emotion! The travel period was well organized and we did exactly what was stated in the program on the website. The accomodation is clean and comfortable. Food is provided by the organization. It's vegetarian food and this can be the only problem if you are not used to it. There are no words that can properly describe this experience!!

I didn’t expect how much these children need someone to take care of them. They are so smart that are capable of learning with just one pen and one notebook, that is amazing. When you try to have fun with the children in your own country is so difficult unless you have a computer or video games around. I have realized you can do so much for them, not only because they learn math’s and English with you but also because they like improving their knowledge. I have really enjoyed this experience, and I’m so sad that I am done here. I will miss the children and all the volunteers so much. This is an amazing country. We came from Spain and this kind of living would be totally different but not that much! Generally speaking, I could have been living here instead of being simple tourist who visits just the important places in Jaipur. This experience is so worthy because you really get approached to the Indian people and their culture. I will never forget. The accommodation was good. And the food was also good. Volunteering India staff is always around and they are willing to solve every problem you could have. That makes you feel better because sometimes you don’t know how to do something’s. Of course, I recommend Volunteering India. Everyone should come to have this experience.

I have found the program very interesting. There can always be some things that you can complain about, but the general opinion for myself is very satisfactory. I’ve felt very well treated by the staff. I feel very happy about everything that I’ve done during the last two weeks I’ve been in here. To summarize, the people very nice, everybody the staff very good, the food and the children from the street children program just incredible! I felt very surprised because it was and more better than I expected. The kids are very clever and they always want to participate in class. I really enjoyed teaching them English and Maths. The accommodation was very good is highlights. The Volunteering India team was great and the work area and at the volunteer house. I totally recommend Volunteering India to others.

This was an absolutely incredible experience. I did the summer program which consisted of two weeks of volunteer work and 1 week of travelling. I worked in the orphanage program which was a very rewarding experience. It was very emotional and seeing the conditions the children lived in was heartbreaking but it felt great to bring some joy to their lives. If you'd like to see what India's really like and help it out too, I would absolutely recommend this program. The volunteer house was a very comfortable environment and I learned a lot from the variety of great people I was with. The places they take you outside the volunteer work especially the trek through the himalayas were some of the best moments of my life. I took a lot from this trip and I can only hope many people will go put a smile on the children's wonderful little faces. It was affordable and beyond worth it. Go, and do a world of good for yourself and others.
